In Denmark, the highway toll for the use of its roads is charged to goods transport vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of greater than 12t. The country has joined Luxembourg, Sweden and Netherlands to organize the process and collect the fee through AGES. The Eurovignette does not include the payment of bridges, such as the Storebaelt, where payment can be made with the VRIO Plus toll device.

Denmark replace the Eurovignette with a mileage-based road tax for heavy vehicles.

Toll Rates:

  • ZONES/ ROADS/ ROUTES

    Tolls in Denmark apply to driving on most of the state road network and parts of the municipal road network (a total of approximately 10,900 km). The Danish government’s intention is for the toll to apply to the entire Danish public road network starting from January 1, 2028 (approximately 75,000 km).

  • TOLL-ELIGIBLE VEHICLES
    • Heavy vehicles of 12 tons or more.
  • TOLL CHARGES

    Trucks will have to pay the toll in Denmark based on their weight, the distance traveled, and the amount of CO2 they emit. If driving through some of the low-emission zones in Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, Odense, Aarhus, and Aalborg, the fee to be paid will be higher.

  • PAYMENT METHODS

    • If you do not have a toll device in Denmark for payment, or if your device is malfunctioning, you can purchase a digital Kilometer Toll Ticket (KmToll ticket)

A KmToll digital ticket is a pass that you must purchase in order to pay tolls in Denmark. This ticket is mandatory if you do not have an On-Board Unit (OBU) or if the one you have is not functioning properly.

Yes, you can cancel or change the entire route up until the start time specified on your ticket. If your route changes after the start time, you have up to 72 hours from the start time to modify the route between the start and end points. It is not possible to change the start time or the start and end points.

If you do not pay the tolls in Denmark, the Danish Road Traffic Authority will issue a fine of 4,500 DKK.

If your lorry is registered in Germany and you encounter an error while trying to purchase a KmToll ticket, you should add a hyphen after the state code in your registration number.
