Tolls in Netherlands: Everything you need to know

Select another country and learn all about its tolls and road charges

Heavy goods vehicles with a maximum permissible mass exceeding 3,500 kg are subject to a kilometre-based toll system in the Netherlands. It applies to almost all motorways and certain sections of provincial and municipal roads.

The amount payable depends on the vehicle’s weight and emissions level. Before travelling in the country, each vehicle must be registered with an authorised provider and fitted with an on-board toll unit — OBU — that is correctly installed, activated and linked to its registration number.

The A24/Blankenburg link, a motorway connecting the A15 in Rozenburg with the A20 in Vlaardingen, is covered by multi-country toll devices but can also be paid for separately through the e-TOL system.
