Slovakia has an electronic registration system (OBU/vignette payment) that is time based (10, 30 or 365 days and for the rest of the current year) for light vehicles, which can be purchased online and/or at points of sale distributed throughout the country and borders.

There are vignettes for vehicles and trailers, requiring the purchase of one for each when the total weight exceeds 3.5t.

Whether it is prepaid or postpaid, registration can be done on site at the different distribution or contact points. The registration of the company to obtain the OBU / pay the vignette, can be done online at the next link. However, the device must be collected at an authorized border point.

Unlike the rest of the vignettes, the modification of post-purchase data is allowed, as well as the verification of whether there is a vignette for a vehicle.

The maximum number of license plates allowed in the same purchase is 500.

At the time of paying the vignette, the system will warn if there is already a valid vignette for that vehicle and period.

There is an application available to purchase Vignettes directly.

Damage, missing parts/components or signs of manipulation mean that the OBU deposit will not be returned.

Vehicles >3.5t must purchase a device, either prepaid (at any Distribution point) or postpaid (at Contact Point), whose rate will vary based on the category of road and vehicle, Euro emissions class, tonnage, number of axes and circulation schedule (day or night).

The device can be purchased in prepaid or postpaid mode (prior registration is obligatory). You can register online to pick up the device at a distribution point, or directly at a contact point with the vehicle documentation and company data.
