How do I cancel a reservation?
You can modify all your reservations in Vrio Copilot selecting the “Cancel” function next to each booking on the right-hand side. It is important that you cancel any bookings (particularly date and time specific crossings) in advance as no-show fees might be applied. This applies particularly to busy routes.
How long does it take to get a booking confirmation?
Generally, bookings are confirmed in a matter of minutes. In the case of more complex routes or ferry companies that do not operate a 24h booking service then some delays might occur. We work to ensure that you get the confirmation ASAP and we are always available to help keep you fully informed.
What is a “Waiting List”
Due to high seasonal demand on certain routes, certain ferry companies operate a waiting list system. We work hard to ensure that our customers get their confirmations as quickly as possible.
What is an “Open-Ticket” and how long is it valid?
In general, an Open-Ticket is valid for 24 hours. The following routes however operate a slightly longer period:
What is the BAF?
BAF is the acronym used for the term “Bunker Adjustment Factor”, which can also be interpreted as a “fuel adjustment factor”.
It is a price surcharge mechanism that is used by each of the different shipping companies that allows them to modify their pricing to help counter fluctuating oil prices.
As ferry operators are heavily dependent on hydrocarbons as a fuel source, the BAF charge allows them to minimize the economic impact of fluctuations in oil pricing. The BAF price is established by each shipping company that is separate from the base price of each reservation.
Normally, the BAF price for each shipping company is established monthly (from the first day of the month to the last). However, some shipping companies modify their BAF pricing using different periods (for example, from the 5th of the current month to the 5th of the following month, or valid until further notice).
What is Marpol?
The term Marpol is an abbreviation for the term “Marine Pollution”, it was adopted at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 1973. It refers to the surcharge that each shipping company includes due to the rules established to limit the amount of sulphur used in the fuel that powers the ships, thus reducing the pollution levels generated on these routes.
Shipping companies generally include this surcharge in the BAF but there are exceptions.
What is the port tax?
As of July 19, 2020, an additional fee of €6 (£5) was established from Dover for all trips originating or ending in this port, the fee is charged by the port and are normally passed on to the final customer. They are normally assessed based on the number of passengers, size or tonnage of the ship but other factors may be included depending on the policy of each port.
Just fill in the short form and we’ll get in touch as soon as possible.
